There are many benefits to being a professional video game tester, not just getting paid a good income to do something you enjoy. One of the most obvious benefits is that you get to play some really cool video games without ever having to spend a penny on them.

You will be able to test games made for many different formats, PC, Nintendo, Playstation, X- box, etc.

If you decide to be a video game tester, and find a company that will hire you, you will receive a video game to play.

The only downside is that you will be required to play this game inside and out, over and over again, so that you can find any bugs or anything that you think should be changed, and then report this information back to the video game designers, so that they can make any needed modifications before the game is introduced onto the market. You play an active role in ensuring that your neighbor likes this video game when he buys it, how cool is that?

How many times have you been playing a video game and thought to yourself that something needed to be done differently, or that a scene should have had more detail, or that the wizard shouldn’t have been so wimpy? Well, the good news, is that now you can not only voice those thoughts, but you may actually even be able to see them implemented in the final release of the game, so that you actually have a major part in video game development.

To become a video game tester, you don’t have to have to college degree, or any real skill, so almost anyone that plays video games can find a job and be successful. You are required to have the gaming console that the game was made for, and if you don’t have gaming consoles, but prefer PC gaming don’t panic, people still have to test out PC games too. You don’t have to run out and spend a bunch of money on gaming consoles, unless you just choose to do so.

You may find that it is not as easy as you think to get your dream job as a game tester, but be patient, you will find one eventually, if you keep looking. If you can find someone who already works for one of the major video game companies, and befriend them, this might be the best way to get your foot in the door. If you visit software producers websites, many of them will have a careers link, and you may be able to find job openings for video game testers there that you can apply for, check with these sites often.

When you do find your job and get hired, you will get your games sent to you via the mail. Along with the game, you will get detailed instructions that will tell you exactly what you are expected to do, so read them closely. You will send everything back to them, except the game, you get to keep that, as soon as you are finished in the enclosed, postage-paid envelope. Then, you just wait for them to cut you a check and send you your next job assignment.
