Becoming a video gaming tester can be an extremely exciting job. Some people argue that the money you make as a gaming tester isn’t that good at all. Truth be told, I used to work as a Visual Basic programmer for a company and I actually made more money becoming a video game tester than I did as a programmer! Here is a rough outline of how to become a gaming tester.
As with tons of other ways to find any kind of job, if you already know someone on the “inside” of the gaming industry you can easily become a gaming tester. Another typical way is to look at all the job posting websites to see if a major gaming company is hiring a gaming tester. You might try Yahoo’s Hotjobs or even Monster.com. Be prepared to spend lots of hours compiling a list of the jobs and even more time applying to them. This way takes tons of time to do.
This way probably takes the longest….you could always get a college degree that relates to the gaming industry. If you are not already attending college to become involved in the gaming industry I recommend that you stay away from this method. It shouldn’t take years of schooling to become a gaming tester.
Now for the best way I have used to become a gaming tester! Yep, I have kept the best for last. We all know that many different people have done the research that we need, so why should we do it ourselves? Those people often charge some kind of fee in order to get access to all their information. Some people think that is a down-side but in reality it is just what you need to become a gaming tester.
Why? Well, if the information was given away for free then everyone would try for the same jobs. That is bad because that would create more competition for you.
